A one-and-a-half-month-old infant was found abandoned at the Gurugram bus stand complex on Monday afternoon.

The baby was found unattended near the gate of a disused toilet behind an ATM booth.

After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and admitted the infant to the hospital’s child health centre, where his condition is reported to be stable.

Around 12 noon on Monday, people heard a child crying incessantly within the Gurugram bus stand complex.

Upon reaching the spot, they found the child abandoned near the door of a locked toilet located behind an ATM booth.

They safely picked up the child and took him to the bus stand’s inquiry counter. The child was in poor condition due to the heat and hunger.

Nitin, an operator stationed at the inquiry centre, alerted Dial-112. Upon receiving the information, an ERV team arrived at the scene.

The police took the child to the Civil Hospital in Sector-10, where doctors conducted a medical examination. The child has currently been admitted to the hospital’s paediatric unit, and his condition is reported to be stable.

The Sector-14 police have initiated an investigation to identify the person who abandoned the child. Police are scanning footage from CCTV cameras installed at the bus stand complex and in the surrounding areas.

Investigating Officer ASI Ashok Kumar said that efforts are under way to identify who left the child behind.

Based on the CCTV footage, action will be taken as per the law, added Kumar.
