Additional Sessions Judge Ranjana Aggarwal of Yamunanagar District Court on Tuesday sentenced a man from Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in an NDPS Act case.

    Special Public Prosecutor Sudhir Sindher said the court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict, Ravi Kumar of Satpura village in Saharanpur district. In default of payment of fine, he will have to undergo simple imprisonment of one year, he added.

    Sindher further said that two other accused, Sushil Kumar of Satpura village and Ankit Kumar of Alipura village, both from Saharanpur district, were acquitted in the case as no direct link to their involvement was established.

    According to the prosecution, on a tip-off, a team of Yamunanagar district police arrested Ravi Kumar near Rampur Bihta village on March 7, 2025, and seized 1,152 capsules of banned drugs from his possession.

    A case was registered against him under Sections 22-C and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, at the Bilaspur police station on the same day.

    Later, police also arrested Sushil Kumar and Ankit Kumar in connection with the case.
