Following pressure from the councillors and the public, Corporation administered anti-rabies vaccine to the stray dogs in all four zones of the urban civic body on Saturday.

After the public and the councillors are repeatedly appealing to the Corporation to catch the stray dogs and vaccinate them against rabies during the weekly grievances redressal and council meetings, the urban civic body, in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry, caught 101 dogs – 23 in Melapalayam Zone, 41 in Thatchanallur zone, 25 in Tirunelveli Zone and 12 in Palayamkottai zone - and vaccinated them on Saturday.

After the vaccination, the dogs were released in the same place from where they were picked up.
