A 13-year-old Class 7 student was found dead at his family’s rented labour quarters near Perla in Kasaragod on Sunday (July 19, 2026). The Badiadka police have registered a case of unnatural death and begun an investigation.

The boy, whose parents worked as rubber tappers, was alone at home after they left to buy ingredients to prepare payasam he had requested earlier in the day. When they returned and received no response, they broke open the locked door and found him. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

According to relatives, the boy had recently undergone medical tests after developing lumps on his neck and had been distressed after doctors reportedly suspected cancer. The police said all aspects of the incident are under investigation.
