Two Gurugram police personnel died and another was critically injured in a severe road accident near Kheda Khurmupur in Farrukhnagar area, after a speeding water tanker violently collided with a police emergency response vehicle (ERV) late on Monday night. The impact was so severe that the police vehicle was completely wrecked.

    Both police personnel died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Special Police Officer (SPO) Chhotelal and Head Constable Anil. Their third colleague, constable Dharmendra, who was driving the ERV is critically injured and undergoing treatment at a hospital.

    According to the police, Head Constable Anil and SPO Chhotelal, deployed on ERV-254 were out on patrol when a tanker approaching from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle at around 11.50 pm on Monday. The impact completely wrecked the ERV and left both officials and the driver critically injured. Bystanders and the police immediately launched rescue operations, but both officials had already succumbed to their injuries.

    The third official, constable Dharmendra, sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was immediately admitted to a nearby private hospital. His condition is reported to be critical. After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and sent the bodies of the deceased to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered against the tanker driver and he is being interrogated.

    A senior police official said that the water tanker, found parked at the scene, was attached to a tractor. The tanker lacked lights or reflectors, which is why the driver of the approaching ERV failed to spot it. A detailed investigation has been launched.
