The police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly beating his father to death following a quarrel, under the influence of alcohol.

The victim has been identified as Chandra Bahadur Shahi, 52, a native of Nepal, residing in Panathur Belagere and the accused, his son, Dorna Bahadur Shahi.

According to the police, both father and son worked as security guards. On Sunday night, an argument reportedly broke out between them at their residence over a trivial issue after consuming alcohol.

During the altercation, the accused allegedly assaulted his father with an iron rod, causing severe injuries. Shahi was rushed to a nearby hospital by his son and friends, but he succumbed to his injuries later that night.

After receiving information about the incident, the Varthur police registered a case and arrested the accused.
