A 29-year-old man was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne assailants at Naya Gaon village near Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district on Wednesday night.

Neeraj alias Bandiya was taking a walk outside his house after dinner when the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and allegedly opened fire at him.

According to reports, despite taking multiple bullets, Neeraj ran nearly 50 metres to save his life before collapsing on the road. The assailants fled the scene after the attack.

The family and locals rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Bahadurgarh DCP Mayank Mishra and DCP (Crime) Shubham Singh reached the spot and inspected the crime scene.

CCTV footage is being examined to identify the attackers.

Investigation Officer Manoj Kumar said Neeraj had a criminal history with two cases of murder and robbery registered against him. “Neeraj had also served time in Tihar Jail and recently returned to the village. We are investigating the case to ascertain the motive behind the killing," he added.
