The Dust Storm event in The Division 2 is currently live in Y8S2, and will go on for three weeks from July 21 to August 11, 2026. Players can head to the New York map and face new enemies from the Rikers faction to earn Keys, which in turn, can be used to open Cache for additional rewards. However, almost every new enemy in the event comes with a yellow health bar, making them a bit more tougher than the foes one usually face in the base game.
The best builds for the Dust Storm event depends on the type of enemy modifiers available. The "increased damage taken" modifier on the enemies should be noted in this case, where they will take 20-50% increased damage if a player is within 0-25 meters of their proximity.
This article lists the three best builds that are great for the Dust Storm event as a solo player. Based on the modifier mentioned above, we will be listing builds that are great for close range.
Heartbreaker remains the king for solo builds in almost every PvE scenario. The 4-piece set bonus grants increased armor with every bullet landed on a pulsed enemy. Heartbreaker can pulse any enemy with a headshot, and this perk is particularly important with a weapon like Chameleon, as you must land headshots to gain damage bonus. Hence, the two gear pieces complement each other well.
Adding in the Memento Exotic backpack into the mix, and you have increased weapon damage, bonus armor, and armor regen with every kill. Here is the complete setup:
The gameplay loop is to just land consecutive headshots with the Chameleon, and everything else will fall into place.
The classic Pestilence damage tick build is great for the Dust Storm event. In scenarios where you can get easily swarmed by enemies, having a constant passive damage uptime will help you control the density at a much safer pace. Note that this build utilizes both weapon and armor at a balanced rate, meaning that you will be a lot less tankier than the Heartbreaker build.
Here's the setup:
The gameplay loop is to start by shooting and defeating one Dust Devil, which will then spread a percentage of damage to surrounding enemies, dealing tick damage for a period of time. Keep shooting and defeating enemies to chain and keep that tick damage up at all times.
The classic close-range build with Hunter's Fury and Backfire is perfect for Dust Storm event, as enemies will take more damage nearby due to the event modifiers, on top of the buffs this build provides. The Hunter's Fury build is all about disorienting enemies on kill, while also regenerating armor. Here's how the setup looks:
The gameplay loop is to get up close with the enemies, shoot them, pick up Memento's collectible, and repeat everything on other enemies on the field.
