Although restrictions have been imposed by the Railways on trekking along the railway tracks to visit Dudhsagar Falls as a precautionary measure, some tourists keep violating them by trekking along the route. However, this time, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Hubballi Division has penalised 32 tourists for the violation.

During the weekend special drive taken up on Sunday, a special task force led by RPF Sub-Inspector carried out surprise checks in the jurisdiction of Dudhsagar and Sonalium railway stations and found 32 tourists trespassing onto the railway tracks through the forest to reach Dudhsagar Falls, a release from South Western Railway said.

The tourists who violated the restrictions were booked under Section 147 of the Railways Act (Jan Vishwas Act) and a fine of ₹500 was imposed on each offender, amounting to a total of ₹16,000.

South Western Railway, Hubballi Division, has prohibited public access to Dudhsagar Falls via the railway route to ensure tourist safety.

However, during the monsoon season visitors continue to clandestinely enter the railway tracks through the forest, posing a serious threat to their own safety as well as the safe operation of trains.

In view of this, special surveillance has been intensified in the Dudhsagar area under the guidance of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner (Sr. DSC/UBL) Alok Kumar and supervision of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Belagavi Unit and the In-Charge, Vasco RPF Post, the release said.
