Romance has always been one of WWE's favorite storytelling devices. The company has never shied away from using on-screen relationships to create memorable television. Sometimes, those storylines become even more intriguing, perhaps because the superstars involved are already in committed relationships off-camera.
Over the years, several WWE stars have shared kisses with fellow performers as part of scripted storylines despite having real-life partners. Although fans understand that these moments are simply part of sports entertainment, they often generate huge reactions and become some of the most talked-about segments on television.
That said, in this article, we look at six times when WWE Superstars with real-life partners kissed another star on TV.
Liv Morgan's "Revenge Tour" in 2024 completely transformed her WWE character. She defeated Becky Lynch for the Women's World Championship. Morgan then set her sights on taking everything from Rhea Ripley. This includes Dominik Mysterio.
The rivalry reached another level when Morgan unexpectedly kissed Dominik following a Steel Cage Match on RAW. What initially looked like a one-off moment eventually evolved into one of the biggest storylines. Dominik eventually betrayed Ripley at SummerSlam and officially aligned himself with Morgan.
However, outside of television, Morgan is in a relationship with Landon Hardwick. Their relationship remained separate from the on-screen romance that captivated fans for months.
Meanwhile, Dominik has been married to his longtime partner, Marie Juliette. The two have been together since their teenage years. Also, the younger Mysterio has even stated publicly that his wife understands the difference between television storylines and real life.
Perhaps one of the newest additions to this list came on this week's episode of RAW.
Maxxine Dupri was seen together with Austin Theory backstage on several occasions. This week, she helped Theory and Bron Breakker defeat The Street Profits to reclaim the World Tag Team Championship. Once the victory was secured, Theory celebrated by embracing and kissing Dupri. Thus, confirming their on-screen alliance.
The angle immediately sparked conversation because Theory is in a real-life relationship with Becca Almeida. Meanwhile, Dupri is married to fellow professional wrestler Anthony Luke, thus making the kiss strictly part of WWE's latest television storyline.
In 2015, WWE blurred the lines between fiction and reality during the fallout from Rusev and Lana's on-screen split. After Summer Rae aligned herself with The Bulgarian Brute, the two began appearing together regularly on the company's programming as a new villainous duo.
One of the most memorable moments came on the July 20, 2015, edition of RAW. Rusev passionately kissed Summer Rae during a backstage segment. To make the angle even more dramatic, Lana was forced to watch the moment unfold. Thus, intensifying the personal rivalry between the two women.
The storyline generated significant buzz because Rusev and Lana were a real-life couple at the time. Also, their relationship was already well known among fans. Although the kiss was entirely scripted and designed to further the storyline, it remains one of the most memorable examples on this list.
Perhaps no Superstar embraced that controversial storyline more than Lana.
Throughout her romance angle with Bobby Lashley, Lana repeatedly kissed The All Mighty on television while still legally married to Rusev in real life. Their on-screen relationship eventually led to one of RAW's infamous wedding segments. However, Rusev repeatedly interrupted the ceremony.
The storyline divided fans. Many even criticized WWE for leaning heavily into melodrama. Nevertheless, it remains one of the company's most memorable romance-based angles of the last decade.
