The district police on Saturday (July 18, 2026) returned 63 lost mobile phones worth ₹10.9 lakh to their rightful owners after tracing them through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

According to a press release, police stations across the district received complaints from people who had lost their mobile phones. The devices were traced using their International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers through the CEIR portal and recovered.
Superintendent of Police D.V. Kiran Shruthi handed over the recovered mobile phones, collectively valued at ₹10,90,982, to their owners at the District Police Office. The release said that so far this year, they have recovered and returned 1,265 lost mobile phones worth ₹1,29,40,982 through the CEIR portal. The public has been advised to report lost mobile phones through the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in), without having to visit a police station, to facilitate blocking and recovery of the devices.
