The Coastal Security Police (CSP), Udupi, said on Friday that 76 owners of boats used for water sports under its jurisdiction are yet to renew their licences.
If the owners do not renew their licences, they will be held responsible in the event of any accident and legal action will be taken against them, a release from CSP headquarters in Udupi said.
The CSP said that out of 227 owners of boats used for water sports under its jurisdiction, 151 have obtained licences.
The CSP has held meetings with operators of boats used for water sports at its nine stations along Karnataka’s coast and urged them to obtain licences. Yet, 76 owners have not renewed their licences.
It may be mentioned here that two tourists died when a boat capsized near Delta Beach Cross in Udupi on January 26, 2026.
