As many as 8.72 lakh tickets of the Thiruvonam bumper lottery were sold on Monday (July 20, 2026), the first day of sales, the Kerala State Lotteries Directorate said.
This year, the directorate has increased the first prize from ₹25 crore to ₹30 crore.
The first-day sales of the same lottery in 2025 had stood at 3.17 lakh. In the first phase, 20 lakh tickets have been issued for sales.
State Lotteries Director Anju K.S. attributed the 5.54-lakh increase in the first-day sales to the credibility of the State Lotteries. Buyers have been advised to purchase tickets only from recognised agents and vendors. The tickets are priced at ₹500.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan had launched this year’s Thiruvonam bumper lottery on July 16. The draw will be held on September 26.
