Business on the German metal market has been considerably livelier lately, and, as is usual with rising prices, large purchases have been made by consumers. The cable industry has naturally played the greatest part in these purchases, but other industries also have shown more interest. Consumers’ stocks are very small.
Owing to the development of conditions on the German artificial silk market, the increasingly keen competition of foreign firms especially of those in countries with depreciated currencies, and the lack of customs protection, the German artificial silk industry has been faced with a number of problems, the solution of which could only be found in the formation of a combine. The first task of the combine will be to establish and put into execution classification principles at all the works and then to fix selling, delivery and payment terms.
In view of the pressure of foreign competition German customers are granted a special rebate on their purchases of German artificial silk. The artificial silk manufacturers hope by this means to develop the production of artificial silk in Germany.
