Following a request by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Railways on Saturday approved stoppages for two important trains at the Adarsh Nagar Railway Station. The move aims to give rail passengers from north and west Delhi easier access to Himachal Pradesh and key religious destinations in Punjab.

In a move expected to benefit lakhs of commuters, the Ministry of Railways has approved the stoppage of the 14331 Delhi-Kalka Express and the 14053 Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express at Adarsh Nagar Railway Station.

The approval came after CM Gupta wrote to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking additional train halts at the station to improve connectivity for residents of north and west Delhi. In a letter to the CM, Vaishnaw informed her that the request had been accepted.

The new halts are expected to reduce the need for passengers from north and west Delhi to travel to the New Delhi or Old Delhi railway stations to board these trains.

The Delhi-Kalka Express halt will directly benefit passengers travelling to Kurukshetra, Chandigarh and Kalka, besides making travel easier for tourists heading to various destinations in Himachal Pradesh. The Delhi-Daulatpur Chowk Himachal Express will similarly provide improved connectivity for passengers travelling to Kurukshetra, Fatehgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib and different parts of Himachal Pradesh.
