Artificial intelligence is transforming engineering by changing the skills required in the industry rather than replacing engineers, said Siva Kumar Kalepu, Head of Product Development at FYZKS Inspection Systems in Hyderabad.

Sharing insights on the growing role of artificial intelligence in electronics and future careers during a lecture at the Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada on Monday (July 13, 2026), Mr. Siva Kumar, also an ALC alumnus, said there is need for creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and strong fundamentals in electronics, embedded systems, and Edge AI.

He also demonstrated the technology behind KalArm, India’s first fully functional bionic hand that he developed, and encouraged students to build real products, embrace AI, and pursue continuous learning.

Recalling his days at ALC, Mr. Siva Kumar thanked his mentors, Balaji Bhanu and Ekambaram, for introducing project-based learning that shaped his career.

Correspondent Fr. A. Francis Xavier encouraged students to embrace emerging technologies with a spirit of research and innovation.
