New Delhi: Air India has been ranked the world’s fourth most on-time airline for June 2026, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. The result marks a sharp rise in punctuality for the Tata Group-owned carrier, which has been trying to improve its daily operations.
Cirium tracked 15,135 Air India flights during the month. Of these, 86.85 per cent arrived on time. Saudia topped the global list with 92.38 per cent, followed by Korean Air at 88.56 per cent and Aeromexico at 86.94 per cent.
A flight is counted as on time if it departs within 15 minutes of its scheduled departure. Air India recorded an on-time departure rate of 86.23 per cent.
Its completion factor stood at 99.7 per cent, which means almost all scheduled flights were operated. Singapore Airlines, WestJet, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, SAS and Qatar Airways were among the other carriers in the global top 10.
In the Asia-Pacific list, Air India finished fourth behind Jeju Air, Korean Air and Scoot. It ranked ahead of Singapore Airlines and IndiGo.
Air India said the result “underscores the airline’s continued focus on operational reliability and schedule integrity.”
India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, uses a different method to measure punctuality at 10 major Indian airports.
DGCA data for May showed the Air India Group in third place with an on-time performance of 74.5 per cent, behind IndiGo and Akasa Air.
Air India performed best in Chennai, where 89.5 per cent of flights departed on time. Lucknow recorded its weakest result at 62.4 per cent.
Air India said it has added three Boeing 787-9 aircraft in the past six months. More Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A350-1000s are expected later this year.
Two upgraded Boeing 787-8 aircraft have returned to service, while three more are being refurbished in the United States.
