Fortythree-year-old anganwadi worker Rathnamma Baligara, who was on SIR duty, died of a heart attack in Bagewadi village of Mundaragi taluk in Gadag district on Sunday.

Rathnamma was working as a Booth Level Officer for the ECI SIR exercise. She had gone to the house of an elector Mahesh Gouda Patil to collect enumeration forms from his family members.

MLA Chandru Lamani had come to visit the house at the same time. The hosts served tea to everyone. After she had her cup of tea, Rathnamma collapsed.

She was being shifted to hospital when she died on the way. Mundaragi Police visited the spot.
