New Delhi: Confusion continues among applicants of the Annapurna Yojana as many people are seeing different application statuses while checking their eligibility for the state’s Rs 3,000 financial assistance scheme.

The West Bengal government has already clarified that verification of rejected applications is underway. Officials are carrying out the process through phone calls as well as door-to-door visits. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has also stated that no eligible beneficiary will be left out of the scheme.

Despite these assurances, many applicants remain uncertain after seeing statuses such as ‘Under Enquiry’, ‘Under Process’ and ‘Payment Failed’-0KOPMIOOLKon the application portal.

According to officials, applicants whose status shows ‘Under Enquiry’ are currently undergoing document verification. However, those seeing ‘Payment Failed’ or ‘Under Process’ have been seeking clarity on whether they will still receive the ₹3,000 benefit.

If the application status shows ‘Payment Failed’, it generally means the application has been accepted by the government, but the money could not be credited to the beneficiary’s bank account due to technical or banking-related issues.

One of the most common reasons is that the Aadhaar number may not be properly linked with the bank account for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Payment may also fail if DBT services are not activated for the account.

Officials say differences between the details in the Aadhaar card, ration card, application form and bank account can also result in payment failure. In some cases, inactive bank accounts or incomplete KYC formalities may prevent the transfer from being processed.

Applicants whose status shows ‘Payment Failed’ are advised to visit their bank branch and verify whether their Aadhaar has been correctly linked to the account and whether DBT services are active. They should also ensure that KYC formalities have been completed.

If the issue remains unresolved after contacting the bank, beneficiaries have been advised to approach their nearest Block Development Officer (BDO) or Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) office with their Aadhaar card, bank passbook and application receipt.

The government has said that the verification process is continuing, and eligible beneficiaries will receive the scheme benefits once any pending issues are resolved.
