Andhra Pradesh Minister of Transport and Youth Services Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy inaugurated the power room at the Simhapuri e-bus depot in Visakhapatnam on Saturday (July 25, 2026).

Inspecting the newly established substation, charging station, and associated infrastructure at the facility, the Minister termed the launch, on the auspicious occasion of ‘Tholi Ekadasi,’ as the dawn of a new era in the State’s transport sector. He emphasised that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is firmly committed to developing a modern and green public transit network across Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that the initiative is being rapidly implemented following directives from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr. Reddy noted that under the central PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, the State is slated to receive an initial fleet of 750 electric buses. Of these, 100 buses have been specifically allocated to Visakhapatnam. Electric buses will be introduced in a phased manner across five major urban centres: Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, and Guntur.

Addressing rumours regarding the State-run transport corporation, the Minister categorically dismissed any plans to privatise the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). He assured the workforce that the coalition government would take all necessary steps to further strengthen the institution.

Following the inauguration, depot committees and trade union representatives felicitated the Minister. Senior APSRTC officials, engineers, depot managers, and employee union representatives participated in the event.
