In his complaint to the police, Lt Col Chandok alleged that during the hearing of his cases in the Family Court on July 9, the opposing counsel, Maninder Singh Bitta, and his associates misbehaved with him and later called 10-17 lawyers, who also misbehaved with him and physically assaulted him outside the courtroom of Judge Rekha (Family Court).

He further alleged that Maninder Singh Bitta and the other lawyers then took him hostage to the chamber of advocate N S Sodhi, where they again assaulted him.

“Maninder Singh Bitta and his associates then threatened me to feel sorry/write a Raazinama, else they would not leave me and beat me,” he told the police.

“Under their threat, they got a Raazinama signed by me, which I was not able to read. I could see the Raazinama was of 5-6 lines. After I signed it, I was allowed to leave the Panchkula courts,” he added.

The medical examination of the Lt Colonel at Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula, revealed: “Discontinuity of coccyx (tailbone) seen, likely to fracture.”
