An audio clip of a conversation between Social Welfare Minister K. Jagadeshwari and a former TVK functionary, in which she allegedly threatens another TVK functionary has gone viral on social media.
The four-minute clip has Ms. Jagadeshwari talking over the phone to the now suspended TVK functionary L. Rajaguru, allegedly a few days after the TVK came to power in May. Mr. Rajaguru was earlier the TVK party North West Union secretary. His suspension order was issued only on July 21 by the party Virudhunagar Central District secretary, P. Chinnappar.
In the clip, Ms. Jegadeshwari can be heard asking Mr. Rajaguru whether he had visited the taluk office in Rajapalayam in her absence. He denies doing so, but points out that Lakshmanan, another party functionary, visited various offices in Rajapalayam and distributed sweets (celebrating the victory of the TVK).
After Mr. Rajaguru tells her that he is not on talking terms with Mr. Lakshmanan, Ms. Jagadeshwari says she will lodge a police complaint against Mr. Lakshmanan and put him behind bars.
While Ms. Jagadeshwari could not be reached for comment, one of her party functionaries confirmed the leaked clip was genuine. The Social Welfare Minister was recently in another row when she complained to Virudhunagar Collector N.O. Sukhaputra that her name had been printed below that of S. Keerthana, her Cabinet colleague, contending that she was the ‘local Minister’ for Virudhunagar district.
