The Department of Automobile Engineering, University College of Engineering, BIT Campus, Anna University, Tiruchi, inaugurated an Autodesk Design and Make Studio on Friday.

    According to an official release, the Autodesk Design and Make Studio, a cloud-connected software ecosystem that unifies data, workflows, and automation, was inaugurated by V. Kumaresan, registrar (in-charge), Anna University, Chennai. A three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was also completed on Friday.

    K. Shanmuga Sundaram, director, Centre for University-Industry Collaboration, Anna University, Akhilesh Sahi, lead – India Academic Programs, Autodesk, and Arun Kumar, senior manager – Education, Autodesk India Private Ltd., were present.

    In his address, Mr. Sundaram said that the university had adopted a master trainer model, under which faculty members trained through the programme will train students in their respective institutions.

    The programme would make the institution serve as a regional hub for training and software access to Anna University affiliated colleges across Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Karur, Namakkal, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, and Nagapattinam districts, he said.

    The FDP equipped faculty members with hands-on knowledge of Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Revit, enabling them to integrate globally recognised digital engineering tools into teaching, research, and product development.

    Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Revit educational licences are available free of cost for Anna University students.

    The Autodesk Design and Make Studio will function under the coordination of B. Kumaragurubaran, assistant professor (Selection Grade), Department of Mechanical Engineering, according to the release.
