An entire section of a flat's balcony collapsed at 'Imperia Esfera Phase-2', a luxury residential complex in Sector-37D. A loud noise was heard when the balcony section of a flat in Tower E suddenly fell during the morning hours today. When residents of nearby flats stepped out, they discovered that the first-floor balcony had collapsed.

Fortunately, although people were passing beneath the balcony when the incident occurred, no one was struck by the falling debris, thereby averting a major tragedy. There are currently no reports of injuries resulting from the incident.

Upon receiving information about the incident, teams from the police and local administration arrived at the scene. Officials have cordoned off the entire area and initiated an investigation and also conducting an inspection.

The incident has sparked fear and intense outrage among the residents of the entire society. The residents alleged that this incident was not unexpected but rather the consequence of the builder's persistent negligence. Just last month, residents had staged a protest within the society complex against the dilapidated state of basic amenities.

Society residents appealed to the administration to have a 'structural audit' of the entire project conducted by an independent and reputed third-party agency. They added that no tower can be considered completely safe until the structural integrity of the entire project has been verified.

“This is a deeply alarming incident. Although the flat was unoccupied, the falling debris could have injured other residents. The collapse of the slab has also damaged a pillar, compromising the safety of the entire tower. We will lodge a complaint with the police and demand an investigation by the DTP department,” said Hemant Kumar, president of RWA of the society.
