Kolkata: Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) increased their stakes in select banking stocks in the June 2026 quarter. FII purchases are generally considered a positive sign for a company’s future. However, investment decisions should not be made solely based on FII investment. Strong fundamentals and valuations are also important to examine. Jammu & Kashmir Bank, South Indian Bank, and DCB Bank were the three banks in which FIIs increased their stakes this quarter. Let’s have a look at these stocks.
Market price: Rs 188.80, up 3.59%
FII holdings in Jammu & Kashmir Bank increased from 8.4% to 9.4% in the June 2026 quarter compared to the March 2026 quarter. The bank has managed to stage a strong comeback over the past few years. Business restructuring, co-lending systems, and new business models have improved its performance. Consistently rising profits have also strengthened foreign investor confidence.
Market price: Rs 47.50, up 2.86%
Foreign investors have also increased their stake in South Indian Bank. FIIs’ stake increased from 24.2% in March 2026 to 25.4 % in June 2026. The bank reported a record net profit of Rs 1,455 crore in FY2026. Gross NPAs also declined from 3.2% to 1.43%, and net NPAs fell to 0.29%.
Market price: Rs 190.00, up 0.079%
FIIs’ stake in DCB Bank increased from 12.7% in March 2026 to 13.5% in June 2026. The bank recorded an 18% year-over-year increase in advances and 21% in deposits in the fourth quarter. The bank’s annual and quarterly profits reached their highest levels. Record profits for the third consecutive quarter have strengthened investor confidence.
These three banks all showed improvements in business, profitability, and asset quality. Reductions in bad loans, growth in deposit and loan books and improved operations are factors that attracted foreign investors. This is why FIIs increased their stakes in these banks in the June quarter.
