The Vigilance Bureau on Thursday claimed to have arrested Inspector Harsh Bansal, posted at a cooperative society at Tapa in Barnala district, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

A retired secretary of the cooperative society had lodged a complaint alleging that the inspector demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to clear his pending retirement dues and resolve an inquiry in his favour.

The deal was later settled at Rs 50,000, a Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said. A case has been registered at the Vigilance Bureau police station in Patiala.
