The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are expected to conduct a thorough review to address the team's recent white-ball displays in Ireland and England, after their ongoing T20I series against Zimbabwe. Pivotal figures like head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Shreyas Iyer, the selection committee, and senior BCCI figures are expected to convene in Mumbai soon.

According to a report by Sportstar, the review is unlikely to lead to any major decision, but there will be introspection after the successive series losses since Shreyas Iyer took over from Suryakumar Yadav as skipper. Team India lost 0-2 to Ireland and 0-4 to England to stitch together a seven-match winless run, which recently came to an end in the series opener in Zimbabwe.

The major aspects in reshaping the roadmap for the World Cup will include discussions around team selection, tactics, adaptability, and execution, all of which were in play during Team India's poor overseas run.

Apart from addressing and dissecting their recent white-ball slump that included three series losses on the trot, the BCCI will also focus on finalising the squad for the two-match away Test series against Sri Lanka. The Shubman Gill-led side are in a vulnerable position in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) standings, as the series begins on August 15.

Team India last toured Sri Lanka for a Test series, nine years ago, where they won by a comprehensive 3-0 margin. The visitors are also scheduled to feature in a warm-up match, before the series opener at the Galle International Stadium.
