Bengaluru FC has acquired the services of midfielder Borja Martinez from third-tier Spanish club AD Alcorcon for the 2026-27 Indian Super League season.
The 32-year-old Spaniard brings with him vast experience of playing in Spain, having played for Hercules CF, RCD Espanyol, Elche CF, Cultural Leonesa and AD Alcorcon and Atletico Madrid’s youth team.
Martinez is a versatile player who can not only operate as a midfielder but can also play down the flanks and provide added support to the centre forward as a second striker in the lineup.
“Borja is a creative player whom we’ve been tracking for the last couple of months. His style of play is suited for the brand of football we play here at the club, and his arrival will be a solid upgrade to our team for the coming season,” said Bengaluru FC Head Coach, Pep Muñoz
“I’ve heard a lot about the club from fellow Spaniards who have played in Spain, and I cannot wait to come and experience Bengaluru and play in front of the best fans in the country at the Fortress,” added Martinez when asked about how he’s looking forward to this new chapter in India.
The club has also extended the contract of defender Harsh Palande last week, who will remain with the club until the end of the 2028-29 season. Regarding his extension, Palande said, “Being at BFC has always been my priority, and I cannot wait to get back and meet all my teammates and get the work started for the season.”
