BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan, on Thursday (July 16, 2026), expressed shock over Karnataka’s stand during a meeting of Cauvery Water Regulation Committee and urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for taking steps to ensure water necessary for irrigation in the State is received from Karnataka.
Referring to reports that Karnataka has declined to share water from Cauvery due to Tamil Nadu, Ms. Srinivasan contended that it was an indication that the rights of Tamil Nadu was being undermined gradually. She further condemned Karnataka’s stand on the issue by giving hollow excuses.

“TVK government, which is an alliance with the Congress in Tamil Nadu, is being indifferent to the actions of the Congress government in Karnataka and it is an act of deceiving the farmers of Tamil Nadu. The people of Tamil Nadu would not remain mute spectators to the actions of the TVK government,” Ms. Srinivasan said.
