The BJP State unit has welcomed the Telangana High Court’s order directing the immediate removal of HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency) Commissioner A.V. Ranganath from his post. Describing the verdict as a “strong slap” to the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged that the administration had been functioning in violation of democratic principles.

Mr. Rao demanded that the government completely dismantle the HYDRAA system, stating that it had become a platform for high-handed action in the name of removing illegal constructions and had created fear among the general public and farmers.

He said the BJP, from the beginning, had maintained that HYDRAA should not act against the poor and small farmers. But the State government had misused the mechanism and resorted to excesses while claiming to protect the poor, he said in a press release.
