The Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Chhachhrauli, has written to the District Mining Officer, Yamunanagar, seeking legal action against a person accused of carrying out illegal mining on gram panchayat land in a village of Yamunanagar district.
The alleged illegal mining took place on panchayat (shamlat) land in Taheri village, which falls under the Ibrahimpur gram panchayat in the district. According to an official letter sent by BDPO Kartik Chauhan to the District Mining Officer on July 7, 2026, the Ibrahimpur gram panchayat passed a resolution on July 2 alleging that illegal mining was carried out on the panchayat (shamlat) land in Taheri village during the night of July 1, 2026.
As per the resolution, Imran, a resident of Jaitpur village in the district, allegedly carried out the illegal mining. The BDPO has requested the District Mining Officer to conduct an inquiry into the matter and initiate legal proceedings in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The officer has also sought a copy of the action taken report to facilitate further departmental proceedings. The SDO (Panchayati Raj), Chhachhrauli, has also been asked to assess the loss caused to the gram panchayat due to the alleged illegal mining and submit a valuation report.
“Based on the assessment, the panchayat has been directed to take appropriate action against the accused in accordance with the rules,” said Kartik Chauhan, BDPO, Chhachhrauli.
