A 60-year-old autorickshaw driver was killed after a BMTC electric bus rammed his vehicle near K.R. Circle on Sheshadri Road in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The accident comes days after another incident involving a BMTC electric bus that rammed another bus, leaving over 15 injured at the K.R. Circle.

Transport Minister Byrathi Suresha had ordered a review of all electric buses with the BMTC following the accident.

The deceased in Saturday’s accident has been identified as Krishnamurthy, a resident of K.R. Puram.

According to preliminary information, the BMTC bus allegedly lost control due to a suspected brake failure and crashed into an autorickshaw that was stationary on the roadside.

Krishnamurthy sustained grievous injuries in the impact and died on the spot.

The police reached the spot, shifted the body for post-mortem, and registered a case. The exact cause of the accident, including whether a mechanical failure led to the crash, will be established after a detailed investigation.

Traffic movement as disrupted for some time until the police pulled the bus from the road using a crane.
