Of late, there have been several surprise WWE exits like Sheamus and The New Day that left the fans bewildered and disappointed. Now, another star has confirmed their departure from the company. While not a major name, Chik Tormenta, a Lucha Libre veteran, recently announced her sudden exit.
The 41-year-old star has been a part of AAA, the Mexican promotion that WWE acquired last year, since 2018. Tormenta is a former one-half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions alongside current AEW star Arez. She hadn't received many opportunities to showcase her talents in recent months, with her last high-profile match for AAA going down at Worlds Collide 2025. Chik Tormenta teamed up with Dalys in a losing cause against Stephanie Vaquer and Lola Vice at the event.
At a recent indie event, Tormenta took the mic and dropped the bombshell news of her being a free agent now following her exit from WWE and AAA. The announcement was met with huge cheers from the fans in attendance.

If one believed The New Day leaving WWE in May was the most shocking departure of the year, just over a month later, an even bigger surprise exit went down when Sheamus walked out of the company. The Celtic Warrior, just like Xavier Kingston and Kofi Kingston, left after TKO reportedly offered them restructured deals that would have seen their salaries reduced.
While it's certainly disappointing to see Sheamus depart, since he'd been part of the global juggernaut for two decades, it has opened doors for him to explore new avenues. Considering just how well-recognized he is, there's no doubt many promotions, most likely AEW, would be knocking at his door with lucrative deals.
A recent report revealed that Sheamus would officially become a free agent only in October this year. Those expecting him to show up at All In 2026 would certainly be disappointed, as the show is slated for August 30th. Nevertheless, he would surely generate a massive pop no matter when and where he finally shows up.
