Saturday Night's Main Event didn't appear to settle any issues between WWE's main event-level stars and instead seems to have only fanned the flames of their fire at present.

CM Punk accidentally hit Cody Rhodes in the face with the WWE Championship as he exited the ring following their win, which led to Rhodes confronting Punk after the show to ask if it was an accident.

Punk and Rhodes' backstage altercation was shared on social media by all of WWE's accounts, but it has since been deleted. Rhodes and Punk were split up by a number of stars, including Bobby Roode, and there was a lot of swearing and bad camera work, but that doesn't explain why the video would be shared and then deleted.

Initially, it appeared as though Punk's movement at the end of the match was accidental, and he didn't mean to hit Rhodes with the title. He didn't react to it at all and quickly exited the ring.

With the backstage altercation, it's clear that it was planned, and now the two men have another reason to want to confront each other. It's unclear why these videos were deleted from X and Instagram, since the match at SummerSlam is still going to go ahead and will still be fueled by bad blood.

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes were pushed into a tag team match at Saturday Night's Main Event, which had an interesting additional stipulation.

The duo took on Sami Zayn and Gunther, and at one point, Gunther almost got the win, which would have given Zayn and Gunther a shot at the title because the SummerSlam match would be changed to a fatal four-way.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis stepped in to ensure that Gunther wasn't able to earn himself another title match. This meant that Punk and Rhodes picked up the win and were seemingly on the same page after they shook hands and hugged, but then CM Punk turned to leave and flicked the title into Rhodes' face.
