Bukayo Saka scored a hat-trick for England as the Three Lions beat France 6-4 in the third-place match of FIFA World Cup 2026 in Miami on Saturday.
Saka found the net twice in the first half and converted from the spot after the break in what was the first hat-trick by an English player in this World Cup. The Arsenal player is having one of the best seasons of his life as he scored 14 goals and assisted 12 more for club and country.
With him on the flanks, Arsenal won the title after 22 years, while England had its best finish in the tournament in 60 years.
England started the third-place match on a high, with Declan Rice and Ezri Konsa giving their side a 2-0 lead. Saka then combined with Marcus Rashford and though the former’s shot was initially saved, he struck on the follow-up.
In first-half stoppage time, he found the net again, with an assist from Ezri Konsa.
Though France threatened to pull off a comeback, a late challenge by Malo Gusto on Jade Spence, gave England a chance to steer clear, and Saka made no mistake from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the other side and scoring his sixth World Cup goal overall.
