Madurai Collector Nishant Krishna on Friday flagged off an awareness rally and a signature campaign aimed at raising public awareness regarding Census 2027, at Tamukkam Grounds.
The rally was flagged off in the presence of Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar. The awareness rally was taken out through the key routes and junctions in the city, including Goripalayam Junction, before returning to Tamukkam Grounds.
Over 300 school students participated in the rally. They carried placards displaying messages highlighting the importance of the census, self-enumeration, and public participation.
Prior to the start of the rally, the District Collector and the Corporation Commissioner inaugurated a signature campaign by signing a pledge.
The first phase of the census in the district comprising self-enumeration (from July 17 to July 31) and house-listing and housing census (from August 1 to August 30) was currently under way.
The public are encouraged to complete the self-enumeration by visiting the official portal se.census.gov.in. On successful completion of the self-enumeration process, a unique identification number (ID) will be generated. Citizens should produce this ID to enumerators during their household visit. The public are urged to extend their cooperation to ensure Census 2027 in the district was completed accurately and expeditiously.
