Two-time Indian Super League champion Chennaiyin FC released 11 players ahead of the new Indian football season, the club announced on Tuesday.

Nandri. (thank you). Thank you all for your contributions. All the best for your future!” the club said in an Instagram post.

The players whose contracts weren’t renewed include Mandar Rao Dessai, Alberto Noguera, Gurkirat Singh, Elsinho, Jitendra Singh, Mohammed Ali Bemammer, Imran Khan, Inigo Martin, Daniel Chima Chukwu, Laldinlina Reithlei, and Eduardo Kau.

Last ISL season was one to forget for the Chennai-based outfit after it just missed the wooden spoon and avoided being the first team ever to get relegated.

The side managed to notch up just two wins, draw thrice, and lose eight fixtures out of the 13 in the truncated campaign. Mohammedan SC, which got relegated to the Indian Football League, finished last with three points, six less than Chennaiyin.
