New Delhi: The excitement surrounding Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is soaring across the globe, and there’s no doubt about it.

In a recent development, Nolan’s fans are travelling across the United States and making major sacrifices just to watch the movie in IMAX 70mm. The film is scheduled to be released worldwide on July 17, 2026.

A Christopher Nolan fan named Amber Connaghan told Variety that she postponed her plans to have a second child so she could attend the opening day screening of The Odyssey.

The 29-year-old tech editor, who lives in Los Angeles, said, “One of my friends got pregnant last year, and she’s like, ‘OK, it’s time for you to have your second child. I was like, ‘No, I have to wait a few months. Otherwise, it’s going to be too close to The Odyssey.”

Another fan, Tim McHugh, who resides in Pittsburg, is flying to Los Angeles to watch the film Universal CityWalk, according to Tribune.

He told Variety that watching The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm has been on his bucket list ever since he watched “Ryan Coogler do a video about the screenings for Sinners.”

He added, “So much of my after-school life was spent lacing projectors that I fell in love with movies. You feel connected to the medium when you’re putting your hands on film like that.”

Another fan named Conrad Rothbaum, who lives in Los Angeles, told the publication, “It was harrowing. I was on a text chain with friends, and we were all trying to get tickets at the same time. We’re just refreshing and refreshing and the site keeps crashing. Finally, two of my friends texted me that they were done. And when I saw those texts, I thought, ‘Now is the time to log back in because all the reasonable people have given up,’ and I got my ticket.”

A 27-year-old fan, Spencer Frey, walked to an AMC Theatres in New York to book his ticket for the film in person as the website kept on crashing. He said, “It was pandemonium in there. I’ve never seen so many people packed into the lobby on a weekday, all trying to use a kiosk.”

Meanwhile, the IMAX tickets for The Odyssey have been sold out for most of the screenings globally. Even in India, the IMAX tickets are sold out for the opening day.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Zendeya in key roles.
