Tom Holland on Friday landed in Mumbai ahead of the Indian premiere of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey”. The “Spider-Man” actor was pictured waving to photographers before entering the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. Nolan arrived separately the same day with his wife and producing partner Emma Thomas, who also checked into the hotel.

The premiere marks the first time a Nolan film has received a dedicated release event in India. It is scheduled for July 10 and 11 at PVR ICON IMAX, Phoenix Palladium, ahead of the film’s global theatrical release on July 17. Reports indicate lead actor Matt Damon is also set to travel to Mumbai for the occasion, though he had not arrived as of Friday afternoon.

Holland plays Telemachus, son of Damon’s Odysseus, in the film’s adaptation of Homer’s epic, which follows Odysseus’s journey home after the Trojan War. The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton and Charlize Theron. Nolan wrote, directed and produced the film with Thomas through their company, Syncopy. It was shot entirely on IMAX film cameras.

Mumbai joins London, Paris and New York on the film’s global premiere circuit.

Speaking to the Associated Press about the anticipation surrounding the release, Nolan said, “The audience tells you what it is... And that means that for us, this is an exciting moment, but a very frightening moment, because it’s real. There’s nothing to hide behind. We made this film for a theatrical audience and it goes out in the world as that. And we’ll see what the world makes of it.”
