New Manchester City signing Elliot Anderson has taken a cheeky dig at Manchester United after joining the Etihad side. The Englishman has claimed that the Cityzens are the kings of the city and is looking forward to playing in the derby.

Speaking to the club's official website, Anderson said that the Manchester derby is one of the biggest in the world. He hailed Manchester City as the best side in the city and said:

Talking about his move to the Etihad, Anderson said that he was delighted to join Enzo Maresca's side. He recalled the Cityzens dominating English football for the last decade and said:

Manchester City see Anderson as the ideal long-term replacement for Bernardo Silva, who has left the club.

Manchester City agreed a stunning £116 million deal to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. The Englishman was a British-record deal in the summer, before Chelsea broke it to sign Morgan Rogers for £117 million from Aston Villa.

Manchester United were keen on signing Anderson this summer as they saw him as the long-term replacement for Casemiro. They wanted the midfielder but were unwilling to match Nottingham Forest's valuation, which helped Manchester City get the deal done.

Manchester United have since signed Andrey Santos and activated Youri Tielemans's release clause to bring the Aston Villa star through the door as well.
