The CJP alleged that tear gas equipment had also been brought to the area, raising concerns that force could be used against the demonstrators.

"The situation at Jantar Mantar is extremely tense. Around 30 40 BJP ‘goons’, along with Delhi Police, are lurking around the protest site to create mischief," the party said.

Claiming that the authorities were preparing for a possible crackdown, the party further said, "Tear gas guns have arrived," while accusing the administration of trying to suppress a peaceful protest instead of addressing the protesters demands.

The allegations come a day after Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the protest site after completing 21 days of his indefinite fast. His supporters have criticised the move, alleging an attempt to weaken the ongoing agitation.

Despite the tense situation, the CJP appealed to the protesters to remain peaceful and avoid any confrontation.

"We appeal to everyone to remain peaceful and not fall into any trap. The movement will continue democratically," the party said.

There was no immediate response from either the BJP or the Delhi Police to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
