Fresh clashes were reported near Sansad Marg on Wednesday as protesting students and Delhi Police personnel faced off during demonstrations.
Police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd after tensions escalated, while Internet services were suspended in the area.
Fresh groups of protesters from across the country poured into Jantar Mantar on Wednesday.
Two days after the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, the sit-in continued to draw new participants, many walking into the protest site with backpacks and rolled-up banners after travelling through the night. Volunteers directed them towards seating areas and distributed drinking water and food packets as more groups joined the gathering.
Volunteers carrying first-aid kits and water bottles moved through the crowd, while new groups of protesters continued to enter the protest site with flags draped over their shoulders and banners tucked under their arms.
“We have been receiving people since early morning, and they are still coming,” said Gurpreet Singh, a volunteer helping manage one of the entry points.
By evening, there was little to no empty space around and outside the main protest area as fresh arrivals continued to join those already gathered. —with PTI

Delhi Police is using its network of artificial intelligence-based cameras to identify people allegedly involved in clashes during the CJP protest, with investigators saying those responsible for attacking police personnel would be arrested, sources said on Wednesday. The AI-enabled surveillance system is being used to analyse footage from the extensive network of CCTV cameras installed across the New Delhi district, a police source said. So far, 10 FIRs have been registered in connection with the violence, the police said. According to the breakup shared by the police, four FIRs have been registered at Parliament Street Police Station, three at Connaught Place Police Station, and one each at Mandir Marg, Barakhamba and Kartavya Path police stations, including one FIR by a Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel who was allegedly thrashed by the protesters and a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms. The offences being investigated include allegations of rioting, assault on public servants, obstruction of government duty, damage to public property, criminal conspiracy, the Arms Act, the Prevention of Damaging Public Property (PDPP) Act and other relevant offences, police said. New Delhi : Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student wing of RSS on Wednesday condemned the violence and public disruption that occurred at Jantar Mantar during recent demonstrations over NEET-UG and education reforms and demanded that the Union government constitute a high-level committee to review the transparency and integrity of competitive examinations. The student organisation said the legitimate grievances of students must be addressed through “meaningful dialogue, empathy and institutional reforms.” It alleged that “rogue political interests and anti-social elements” had orchestrated violence under the guise of a genuine student movement to disrupt public order. New Delhi: Celebrity support for activist Sonam Wangchuk and students protesting over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak continued to grow on Wednesday, with veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah joining actor Preity Zinta in voicing support for the movement and urging the government to engage with the protesters. New Delhi: The 21-year-old woman injured in the reported protest-related incident and admitted to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has shown significant clinical improvement. New Delhi: Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh on Tuesday met activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, sources said. Wangchuk was discharged from the Safdarjung Hospital earlier in the evening and was shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram for further treatment in compliance with a Delhi High Court order, officials said. "Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh have met Sonam Wangchuk at the hospital," a source told PTI. Wangchuk was brought to the Medanta Hospital in an ambulance at around 7.30 pm under tight security.
