A 15-year-old Class X student of Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Chhachhrauli, in Yamunanagar district was found hanging inside an abandoned building on the school campus on Thursday, a day after he went missing.
The deceased, identified as Kamaldeep of Panjeto village in Yamunanagar district, had not returned home after school on Wednesday. The reason behind the suspected suicide is yet to be established.
According to the police, Kamaldeep’s family searched for him throughout Wednesday evening before informing the police, who launched a search operation along with the relatives.
The search resumed on the school campus on Thursday morning. During the operation, the student’s school bag and bicycle were found outside an old, unused building. When the family and police entered the structure, they found Kamaldeep hanging from a hook fixed to the ceiling.
The police brought the body down and sent it for post-mortem examination.
School principal Usha Rani said all students had left the campus after school hours on Wednesday.
“The student’s mobile phone’s last location was reported to be near the school. A search was subsequently conducted on the school campus, where his body was found in an abandoned building,” she said.
Kamaldeep’s father, Nawab Singh, said his son was the couple’s only child and had never indicated that he was under any stress.
Vedpal, SHO of Chhachhrauli police station, said the police had registered an FIR and begun an investigation.
“The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be known,” he said.
