A storyline involving Cody Rhodes' "cousin" has been pitched. The SmackDown superstar has had a lot to deal with recently as he prepares to win back the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Rhodes will face CM Punk at SummerSlam, hoping to win the Title for the fourth time in his career. The match will be a marquee attraction at the Biggest Party of the Summer, but before that, Rhodes is attending other business.
He recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about his role as Guile in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. During the conversation, Cody Rhodes was asked about athletes and celebrities that he believes would make it as WWE Superstars.
The American Nightmare is shown a picture of Norwegian soccer player Erling Haaland. Rhodes immediately praised Haaland and said, due to his blonde hair, they could do a storyline where Haaland is his cousin.
Haaland has been making his name with English Premier League side Manchester City.
He was in brilliant goal-scoring form during the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in the US and became a popular figure due to his playful behavior during and after the matches.
Athletes from other sports showing up in WWE is nothing new, and it will be interesting to see if Erling Haaland ever makes the move.
At Saturday Night's Main Event, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk beat Gunther and Sami Zayn to ensure their match at SummerSlam remains a singles contest.
After their win, Punk flipped the belt over his shoulder, but the strap accidentally caught Rhodes in the face. The two stars had a heated exchange about it backstage, and the issue once again popped up during the SummerSlam Kickoff event at Fanatics Fest.
The Second City Saint told Rhodes that what happened at SNME was an accident, but then shoved his face. Triple H had to step in to prevent the situation from getting out of hand.
