The City Crime Branch in Coimbatore has registered a case against three persons in connection with the alleged theft of 900 sovereigns of jewellery belonging to a real estate businessman.
M. Vignesh, his mother M. Vasuki and his sister M. Jeevitha of Jothipuram near Periyanaickenpalayam were booked on July 3, for criminal breach of trust and other offences, based on a complaint lodged by S. Shanmugapandian (67), a real estate businessman of Ganapathi Maanagar.
As per the First Information Report, Mr. Shanmugapandian’s second daughter and Vignesh, both doctors, got married in 2024. The complainant alleged that he had entrusted the keys of a locker and bureau at his residence, in which 1,000 sovereigns of jewellery were kept, to Vignesh. The complainant alleged that jewellery went missing from the bureau and the accused returned only 100 sovereigns in June this year.
The CCB has launched an investigation.
