New Delhi: A fresh complaint has been filed with Bishnupur Police Station in connection with the Sevashray programme, adding to the controversy surrounding the healthcare initiative launched by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee.

The programme, introduced around two years ago, was aimed at providing affordable medical services to people in rural and economically weaker sections. However, following the change in government in West Bengal, several allegations regarding the programme’s functioning and quality of medical services have surfaced.

The latest complaint relates to the use of a resort named Eco Creek in the Bishnupur Assembly constituency of South 24 Parganas during the operation of a Sevashray camp.

According to the complainant, who owns the resort, the property had been rented to accommodate personnel associated with the Sevashray initiative. The resort owner alleged that the booking was arranged by then minister and local MLA Dilip Mondal.

The complainant further claimed that staff from Abhishek Banerjee’s Camac Street office stayed at the resort, including his personal assistant, Sumit Roy. The allegations are part of the complaint submitted to the police.

The complaint comes on the same day that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari addressed the West Bengal Assembly on allegations related to the Sevashray programme.

During his statement, Adhikari alleged that there had been widespread irregularities in the implementation of the programme and assured the Assembly that complaints from individuals claiming to have been affected would be investigated thoroughly.

The Chief Minister said those found responsible for any wrongdoing would face legal action. Authorities have not yet announced the outcome of the complaint or any findings from the ongoing investigation
