Aditya Pratap Yadav went down to Uganda’s Nuhu Batte in the Round of 16 stage of the men’s 65 kg boxing event on Sunday, marking India’s first loss in boxing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Aditya Pratap started well, outscoring his Ugandan opponent in the first round. However, Batte turned the tide in the second round and especially targeted the ribcage section and rained punches to wear down the Indian.
In the end, Batte won 3-2 by split decision and subsequently progressed to the quarterfinals.
