India women’s pair Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh lost to Namibia’s Diana Viljoen and Amanda Steenkamp in a tiebreaker at the Bowls event during the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow on Sunday.

The pair registered its first defeat after forcing the game into the tiebreaker with a huge 10-1 win in the second set. However, India could not replicate similar performance in the tiebreak — where each pair had six throws — and lost 0-3.

India began taking a 5-0 lead in the first set, but the Namibians came back from behind to finish 7-5 thanks to Diana’s precision.

But Rupa gave India a terrific start in the second set and Pinki did well to build an insurance wall. Even when Rupa fumbled a bit later, Pinki did the repairing job well to claim a 10-1 win and force a tiebreak.

However, despite the loss, India is currently second in the Section B with five points, behind England, who has six.

India and England will play their final group match later today.
