India’s Preeti Pawar defeated Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje via RSC (referee stops contest) method to advance to the quarterfinals of the women’s 54 kg boxing event on Sunday.

    Preeti, who won a bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games, dominated her opponent in the first round, earning a perfect 10 scorefrom the judges.

    In the second round, the referee stopped the match and declared Preeti the winner, after ruling the contest as a one-sided bout. The 22-year-old will now face Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the quarterfinals.
