Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash qualified for the final of the men’s 200-metre butterfly event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Friday.
Prakash finished second in Heat 2 with a time of 1:58.59 minutes, behind Scotland’s Duncan Scott who finished with a time of 1:58.29 minutes.
The 32-year-old started well and was in the lead until the end of the first half of the race before eventually conceding the lead to the Scot.
Prakash along with seven other swimmers who qualified along with him, will now take part in the final on July 27, Monday.
The swimmer from Idukki had finished eighth in the final of the same event in the 2018 edition of the event held in Gold Coast, Australia.
In the men’s 100 metre backstroke SB9 event, Swatik Patil also qualified for the final after finishing fourth in Heat 2 with a time of 1:15.85 minutes. The final of the SB9 event is scheduled to take place at 12:02 AM on Tuesday, July 28.
